The Tauranga Multicultural festival provides an opportunity for all communities and community groups living in Tauranga to join together to celebrate the cultural diversity and promote inclusion through music, food and culture. Discovery tents will provide an opportunity for visitors to experience different cultures through interactive activities alongside free children’s activities. The annual ‘Parade of Nations’ will begin at noon – everyone is welcome to participate.

Festival goals:

  1. To facilitate closer ties between all the different communities that live in Tauranga; locals, tangata whenua and migrants.
  2. To promote integration of migrants into the local community.
  3. To strengthen their sense of identity within their new country by providing them an opportunity to showcase their music, food and culture.
  4. To contribute to the openness of Tauranga residents towards other cultures.
  5. To involve community and community groups to celebrate Tauranga’s diverse cultural landscape together.
