The 58th National Jazz Festival presents a fantastic programme of events in Tauranga this Easter from 8 to 12 April 2020, showcasing performances from some of the best jazz musicians in Australasia.

There's something for everyone, from world-class jazz concerts at the Baycourt Community and Arts Centre, the two-day 43rd National Youth Jazz Competition, family day at the Jazz Historic Village on Good Friday, dancing at the Hurricane Party, a Vintage Car Parade plus a two-day jazz party at the Downtown Tauranga Carnival, sunset jazz cruises on the Kewpie, and uptown jazz at Hotel Armitage including a delightful Jazz High Tea.

So much to explore and experience – bring your family and friends for a Tauranga jazz adventure.

Ben Wilcock & The Jelly Rolls are joined by one of NZ’s finest musicians, saxophonist Roger Manins in a one-off performance. Playing original material from both Manins and The Jelly Rolls’ catalogue, as well as unique interpretations of jazz standards.

Piping Hot Dixie: Shirazz (AUS) with Scott Harrison (AUS) on the Mighty Wurli
April 10

Festival favourites Shirazz are joined by organist Scott Harrison in a celebration of the hottest trad jazz and Wurlitzer magic. They will present a programme of New Orleans favourites alongside originals that show off the best of the band and the organ.

Kevin Field Quartet with Bex Peterson (FIJI)
April 11

Acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Kevin Field is joined by one of New Zealand’s greatest expatriate vocalists Bex Peterson for a very special one-off concert featuring originals, standards and jazzy interpretations of iconic kiwi pop tunes.

James Morrison Quartet (AUS)
April 11

The James Morrison Quartet is one of the world’s most in demand jazz groups. Featuring multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, with his two sons, William and Harry with drummer Patrick Danao. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear swinging jazz from the best.

Miho’s Jazz Orchestra
April 12

Japanese-born flute and sax player Miho Wada performs a unique blend of world jazz, fusing her distinctive pan-pacific flavour with Afro-Cuban flute, Japanese pop and irresistibly dance-happy grooves. Charming, quirky and upbeat!
