1pm: Screenwriter, actor and director Tim Balme de-mystifies the world of making film and television in New Zealand from a writer's perspective, including turning an idea into a pitch, the evolution of a pitch into a treatment into a script and beyond and how to look after your intellectual property. Using Brokenwood and other recent local shows as working examples, Tim will leave time for Q&A after his talk.
1:30pm: Workshop participants will see a short scene, discuss it, identify what was important and then read the published version of the scene in script form and compare what was seen with what is on the page. Practical exercises include collectively editing to make a (real) bad scene better and writing an original scene together.
