Te Puna i Rangiriri Trust is pleased to bring to you: Hikoi (walk) with recognised traditional navigator Jack Thatcher who was awarded the 2013 Te tohu a te Waka Toi for his contribution to the revitalisation of traditional navigation. Jack was also awarded the Te toa whakaihu waka 2015 for services to waka.

The early morning hikoi will take place every day from Monday, 10 June to Friday, 14 June 2019.

Join Jack to learn about Matariki in a fun and engaging way, that encourages all to follow healthy practices.

5:30am - meet at the big white Matariki marquee at the Mount Beachside Holiday Park camp ground.

Matariki ki Mauao is a week-long programme of events at the base of Mauao that involves early morning walks with waka navigator Jack Thatcher, workshops for schools, evening archival screenings and a Matariki market day for all members of the family!
