Matariki ki Mauao is back this year with more workshops and activities to share knowledge about Matariki, along this year’s theme: Tuituia a Matariki.
Matariki ki Mauao is a week-long programme of events at the base of Mauao that involves navigated tours to the top of Mauao with waka navigator Jack Thatcher, workshops for schools, evening archival screenings and a Matariki market day for all members of the family!
Matariki ki Mauao will launch on Monday, 10 June with a hikoi on Mauao with renowned star navigator and voyager Jack Thatcher. The workshops for schools will be delivered from Monday to Thursday from 9:30am to 2:30pm. Registrations for workshops are essential. There’s a $2 coin entry for the hikoi and the workshops.
The programme will conclude on Saturday, 15 June with a Matariki market day (free entry) which will include food stalls, entertainment, tree planting, games and more for all ages.
