The Anchor AIMS Games is a strategic partnership between Sport Bay of Plenty, the four Western Bay Intermediate Schools and Tauranga City Council.
The organisation of sports is linked with various local sporting clubs, regional and national sporting organisations. The sporting championships give 11, 12 and 13 year olds an opportunity to compete as an individual or in a team against the best of their age in 22 different sports. Each of the sports offered in 2018 are hosted in superb facilities across the region.
Since the inception of the AIMS Games in 2004 it has grown from 760 competitors representing 17 schools and four sporting codes to the 2018 Anchor AIMS Games embracing 10,851 competitors representing over 320 schools from throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.
