The Strand, Tauranga

The Tauranga International Marathon will take you on a breath-taking, spectacular journey through Tauranga's best spaces and places, including the Daisy Hardwick boardwalk/estuary, Fergusson Park and waterfront, Mount Maunganui loop track, and Marine Parade, to finish smack-bang in the heart of the city on The Strand.

With event options for all ages and abilities, this is one for all your friends and family.

  • The Strand – from Spring Street to No. 1 The Strand – 5am to 10pm
  • Wharf Street – from Willow Street to The Strand – 5am to 10pm
  • Durham Street – from Harington Street to Hamilton Street – 9am to 5pm
  • Papamoa Beach Road – from Grant Place to McCallum Place – 6.30am – 10.30am
  • Nikau Crescent – 6am to 2pm
  • Rata Street – from Nikau Crescent to Totara Street – 6am to 2pm
  • Beach Road – from – 7am to 5pm
  • Otumoetai Rd – from Levers Road to Beach Road – 7am to 5pm

Lane closures

  • Papamoa Beach Road – from Grant Place to  Maranui Street (Northbound) – 9am to 11am
  • Maranui Street – from Maranui to Yale Street (Northbound) – 9am to 11am
  • Yale Street – from Maranui Street to Ocean Beach Road (Eastbound) – 6.30am to 11.30pm
  • Ocean Beach Road – from Yale Street to Marine Parade (Northbound) – 6.30am to 12pm
  • Marine Parade – from Oceanbeach Road to Adams Avenue (Northbound) – 6am to 2pm
  • The Mall – from Adams Avenue to Salisbury Avenue (Southbound) – 8am to 2pm
  • Totara Street – from Rata Street to Hull Road (Southbound ) – 7am to 2pm
  • Maxwells Rd – from Chapel Street to Ngatai Road (Northbound) – 7am to 3pm
  • Harbour Drive – Maxwells Road to Kulim Avenue (Westbound) – 8am to 3pm

Parking restrictions

There are parking bay restrictions in place for the following areas from Friday 21 September, 5pm to Saturday 22 September, 3pm.

From 1am to 3am on Saturday, 22 September any cars parked on the below streets will be courtesy towed.

Northern side of:

  • Harbour Drive
  • Kullim Avenue
  • Waratah Street (from Woods Avenue to Ranui Street)
  • Levers Road (from Ranui Street to Otumoetai Road)
  • Ngatai Road (from Otumoetai Road to Chapel Street)
  • Chapel Street (from Ngatai Road to Maxwells Road)
  • Beach Road (from Woods Ave to Fergusson Park)

Eastern side of:

  • Maxwells Road (from #57 to Harbour Drive)
  • Woods Ave
  • Rimu Street
  • Otumoetai Road (from Levers Road to Ngatai Road)
