Cultural Connections is a Tauranga City Council staff training package designed and delivered by the Takawaenga Maori Unit. We open it to the public during Matariki – join us for two days to learn about our history, local iwi and hapū, and the cultural richness of our land.
Day 1: Thursday 1 June - Module 1: Past & present; Module 2: Protocols
Day 2: Friday 2 June - Module 3: Walking the land
Module 1 gives participants a basic understanding and awareness of key historical and contemporary issues relating to our region. Module 2 looks at the protocols for engaging with iwi and hapū.
Module 3 takes participants on a tour of significant cultural sites across the city, allowing them to make linkages between our land and our people.
