Celebrate New Year’s Eve with family, friends and neighbours. Join us and enjoy the early-evening entertainment including kids’ rides, music, Frozen characters, yummy street food and even a visit from Batman in his Batmobile. The night is topped off with fireworks at 9.30pm.
Bike or scooter down with the kids to Fergusson Park for Matua’s own community celebration. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the celebration with yourlocal community. Wanting to try something different? We’ve got your dinner covered with many food stalls offering a great variety of yummy dinner options. All vendors will have mobile eftpos.
Enjoy the all-ages entertainment and early-evening fireworks, and then watch the midnight fireworks from your own deck or backyard at home.
This is an alcohol- and smoke-free event. We have water refill stations onsite, bring your bottle and stay hydrated. With the sun being still strong in the afternoon, slip, slop, slap and wrap.
To enhance safe community celebrations in Matua, Fergusson Park will become a temporary alcohol-free area from 10am on Monday, 31 December 2018 to 6am on Tuesday, 1 January 2019. No alcohol can be carried or consumed in this area while the temporary ban is in place. Police have the power to search for alcohol and issue a fine.
Due to limited general parking, we encourage travelling by bike, walking or sharing a ride down to Fergusson Park. Car parking is available for mobility cardholders in the main car parking area.
