The Toi Ohomai Suffrage 125 Study Award carries on a tradition started by our legacy institution Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, back in 1993, when they offered a scholarship as part of the 100 year commemoration of women’s suffrage in New Zealand.
For the 125 year commemoration, Toi Ohomai is offering a study award to a female student who has enrolled to study a Toi Ohomai course in 2019. The award provides a one-off $500 contribution towards course related costs.
Closing date: The final date for applications is Wednesday, 31 October 2018.
Eligibility: This award is designed to assist a Bay of Plenty woman, who has enrolled on a 2019 Toi Ohomai course, with course related costs. It is only open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents.
Preference will be given to:
- mature women returning to study
- single parents of any age
- students who are enrolled at the regional campuses in Taupo, Tokoroa, or Whakatane
Note: This award is primarily for applicants commencing a Toi Ohomai course. Applicants who are already undertaking study at Toi Ohomai in 2018, and who intend to carry on with further study at Toi Ohomai in 2019, will be considered at the discretion of the selection panel.
Criteria: Applicants must clearly demonstrate to the selection panel that they have:
- an interest in women’s history
- the motivation and ability to succeed in their chosen course
Consideration will also be given to the applicant’s personal and financial circumstances.
Selection panel: The selection panel consists of the Suffrage 125 Tauranga committee and key members of the Toi Ohomai leadership team.
