Presented by: Opus Orchestra
A lion, a wolf and a ludicrous mischief-maker will be brought to life by master Kiwi narrator and actor, Mark Hadlow, who will put aside his Lord of the Rings costume and enchant both young and old with Opus Orchestra.
‘Midwinter Tales’ is a very special family-friendly concert created by Opus Music Director, Peter Walls. The spellbinding programme includes Prokofiev’s much-loved Peter and the Wolf, Philip Norman’s orchestral setting of Margaret Mahy's classic story A Lion in the Meadow, and a new adaptation of Stravinksy’s Pulcinella. A specially commissioned script from Kiwi David Groves, transports the traditional Italian comedy character Pulcinella to the hinterlands of New Zealand for his mischief making.
Grab the children/grandkids and liven up the chilly season with a night of magical music and storytelling. The joy of the children will be infectious, and their wriggles and sniggles welcome!
